A Chinese mother faces criticism for ridiculing her son's teacher for commuting by bicycle. The mother suggested that the teacher should buy a car to avoid conveying a negative perception of a teacher's financial status and the value of education. The conversation between the mother and the teacher, captured in a viral screenshot, has sparked widespread discussion on Chinese social media platforms, as per the South China Morning Post report.

The teacher is identified as Wang and the son of the woman is identified as Rongrong. In response to Rongrong's insistence that she should buy a car, Wang explained that he enjoyed riding his bicycle to school and emphasised that his residence was in close proximity to his workplace, making cycling a convenient option.

However, Rongrong's mother persisted, expressing her concern that her son might perceive the teacher as financially disadvantaged and undervalue education. She even revealed that her son had been accustomed to riding in a BMW since birth and was surrounded by people with luxury cars. The mother compared her son's luxurious upbringing, including riding in a BMW since birth, to Wang's supposedly lower living standards despite years of hard work.

Continuing her argument, the mother expressed concerns about the impact of Wang riding a bicycle on her son. She insinuated that her son would conclude that teachers cannot earn a decent income and that studying is futile. The screenshots did not reveal Wang's response to this personal attack. However, other parents within the group voiced their criticism towards Rongrong's mother. One parent proposed that, given the affluence of your family and your disapproval of Teacher Wang not having a car, why not consider buying one for him? Another parent chimed in, stating that if she is genuinely concerned about the impact of the teacher's mode of transportation on her child's education, would she not be willing to contribute a modest amount of money from her own resources?

Moreover, social media users who came across the conversation criticised the mother for her snobbish and elitist behaviour.
