Ahmedabad Mason’s Daughter Ranks Fifth In Company Secy Exam

Dhwani Prajapati has proved that one's socio-economic background doesn't determine the heights one is capable of achieving. This resident of Odhav, Ahmedabad, has stood 5th in the All India Ranking (AIR) in the company secretary (CS) executive exam. The results were announced on Sunday (Feb 25).

Dhwani scored 65.86% and secured the 1st rank in the Ahmedabad centre, obtaining 461 marks in the executive programme of the CS exam. The exam was held in November last year. Now she is eyeing the final: the professional programme.

Family background

Dhwani’s father is a mason and her mother sews clothes. Both the parents work tirelessly not only to earn a livelihood but also to educate their two daughters. Her younger sister studies in class 12.

Secret to success

Dhwani told TOI that her parents were a constant support. Besides that, she abstained from using social media in the run-up to the exam. She revised study material at home after going through eight hours of lessons at a coaching class.

Aim

The 18-year-old said: “In the foundation stage, I stood 11th in AIR. I had obtained 85% marks in class 10 board exams and 90% in class 12, in the commerce stream.”

Dhwani said when she was in class 11, she found a subject related to the company secretary course interesting and decided to pursue it.

Social prejudice towards girls

Talking about societal prejudice towards girls, Dhwani explained how some people dissuaded her father to spend money on his daughters’ education. But she mentioned that her father used to seal their mouths by telling them that his daughters are equal to boys.

It is great to see young girls slogging day and night envisioning a better future for themselves and their parents. More power to them!
