Conscientiousness, focus and hard work is all that one needs to get ahead in life. One’s financial or social background has little to do with the success they are slated to achieve. Nisha Yadav, daughter of a truck driver, proved this by scoring 95 per cent in her class X board exams and emerging as the fourth topper in Uttar Pradesh.
A student of Sardar Patel inter college, Nisha lives in Kanpur’s Jarauli district. Her mother is a homemaker and father drives a truck on the Kanpur-Delhi route and earns Rs 10,000 a month.
“I want to be an IAS officer to serve our people. I want to fulfill all the wishes of my father. I will work very hard and score at least 97-98 per cent in class XII after which I will do my graduation,” said Nisha.
Nisha’s father had gone out for work when he got the news of his daughter’s commendable performance in class X exams. He congratulated Nisha for her success and asked her to distribute sweets.

Scoring such good marks meant Nisha had to put in a lot of hard work. After returning from school, she would again study for four-five hours without any external help.
She avoids using cellphones so that she doesn’t get distracted from her studies. She doesn’t have a Facebook account either
She even admits that the guidance she received from her teachers, parents and elder brother were instrumental to her success.
Such stories of young girls breaking barriers and dreaming big are a beacon of hope towards improving women’s lives in the country.
