“The class 12 student from Namna Kapaya village was detained for questioning in connection with a disgusting threat message that was posted on the Instagram account of Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni a few days back,” Kutch (West) superintendent of police Saurabh Singh told reporters.

As per a report, the teenager, who has also “confessed” to the crime, said he had posted the threatening message on Instagram because he was upset about the cricket match, police said.

Rape threats to MS Dhoni's Daughter

Many have been criticising MS Dhoni for CSK's performance at IPL tournament this year. Following the team's loss to KKR on October 9, trolls took to social media to post abusive comments against the cricketer and even his daughter. Dhoni's daughter was threatened with rape, which led to a social media outrage.

Journalist Rohini Singh tweeted, “This is the sickest thing I have seen on social media. A 6 year old baby getting a rape threat. A baby.”

Journalist Swati Chaturvedi wrote on Twitter, “Being a woman is a crime in India." Politician Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote that this was the "most disgusting example of how social media platforms are being misused," in a tweet.
