K-pop star Lisa made her debut at the 2025 Met Gala in a custom Louis Vuitton look, styled according to this year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. The singer wore a fitted black blazer with sheer panels, matching underwear, and tights featuring the Louis Vuitton logo. She completed her bold look with a pearl chain, black purse, and pumps, keeping her makeup soft and her honey-blonde hair styled in a voluminous updo.

Lisa’s Met Gala Look Sparks Outrage Over “Rosa Parks” Underwear Print

While Lisa's outfit turned heads for embracing the no-pants trend seen on stars like Sabrina Carpenter and Helen Lasichanh at the 2025 Met Gala, it was the graphic lace pattern on her underwear that quickly sparked controversy. The lace pattern seems to be a collage featuring various women’s faces, with online users pointing out that one of them closely resembles civil rights icon Rosa Parks.

According to The Cut, a Louis Vuitton representative shared that the design was created by American artist Henry Taylor. He was personally chosen by the brand’s creative head, Pharrell Williams, for the Spring 2024 collection. The rep explained, “The print features portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist’s life.” However, they did not confirm whether one of those faces was Rosa Parks.

So far, neither Lisa nor Louis Vuitton has addressed the Rosa Parks controversy. However, the phrase "Rosa Parks underwear" quickly began trending on X (formerly Twitter) after the Met Gala, with many users calling the outfit disrespectful and inappropriate.

The timing of the controversy only made things worse. Weeks before the Met Gala, clips from Lisa and fellow BLACKPINK members’ pre-fame auditions resurfaced. The clips reportedly show them using a racial slur onstage. Since then, “none of the idols have publicly acknowledged or apologised for the alleged incident”, which has led to growing frustration online.
