Shah Rukh Khan made his Met Gala debut this year, dressed in an elegant ensemble by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The designer revealed that Khan’s outfit was carefully crafted to reflect India’s rich cultural heritage, while paying homage to the legacy of dandyism—a fashion movement known for its sharp, expressive tailoring and bold personal flair. And hence it also aligned with the Met Gala 2025 theme, ‘Tailored For You.’

All About Shah Rukh Khan’s Regal Met Gala Look by Sabyasachi

The look featured a long black coat made from fine Tasmanian wool, styled with sharp lapels and handcrafted horn buttons. He wore a silk shirt beneath, left open at the chest, paired with tailored black trousers. A pleated satin kamarbandh at the waist added a soft but structured touch.

His jewellery was rich in meaning, with layered chains, a diamond-studded pendant shaped like the letter ‘K’, and a tiger cane in 18k gold – blending old-world charm with modern glamour. The design echoed Mughal-inspired fashion and royal Indian portraits, where kings proudly wore layers of jewels.

Shah Rukh Khan Reveals the Real Reason Behind His Met Gala Debut

Khan, 59, talking to Vogue, revealed the reason behind his debut and it was surprisingly wholesome. “I have little kids who are really excited about the Met,” he said with a smile on the red carpet. “I’m not sure I would’ve come on my own, but when Sabya brought it up, they went, ‘Wow!’ I still don’t know if it was ‘Wow, they invited you?’ or ‘Wow, you’d rock it!’, he added. Take a look.
