Female Cast Of Thalaivi: Kangana Ranaut is all set to offer you yet another impactful performance with her upcoming film Thalaivi. The 3.22-minute trailer was recently dropped on social media and it came packed with powerful scenes and dialogues that impressed social media users.

The film will be focusing on the journey of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and taking the audience through the transition from a movie star into a politician. Directed by AL Vijay, the film has Kangana Ranaut in the titular role.

While Ranaut's uncanny resemblance with Jayalalithaa stunned us, fans can’t stop gushing over a viral picture from the trailer that reminds us of an old picture of the late Tamil Nadu CM and then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Interestingly, the viral snap has been recreated with Ranaut wearing a similar green saree while felicitating Indira Gandhi at an event (the actor playing Gandhi is still unrevealed).

Sharing the trailer, the Queen actor wrote, "To Jaya Amma, on her birth anniversary. From changing the face of cinema to the fate of a state, Jaya Amma shaped destinies of millions! Witness the story of the legend, Thalaivi, in cinemas on 23rd April, 2021."

Ranaut has been sharing how she gained and lost 20kg for the biopic. She underwent a massive physical transformation to trace the life of the late politician’s journey from being an actor to becoming the chief minister. Ranaut revealed how her weight gain for the project and how learning Bharatnatyam for her role left her back severely damaged. She had also revealed that she was struggling to lose the extra kilos. Check How Kangana Ranaut Transformed Into Jayalalithaa – In Pictures

Thalaivi also marks Ranaut's return to Tamil cinema after 12 years since Dhaam Dhoom in 2008. Meanwhile, in the recently announced 67th National Film Awards, she won her fourth National award for her roles in Manikarnika and Panga.

Bhagyashree, who is known for the performance in the Salman Khan-starrer Maine Pyaar Kiya, has been roped in to play the role of Jayalalithaa’s mother in the biopic. She is making a comeback in films after 11 years. The actress was seen for a few seconds in the trailer of the film that was released on Tuesday.

Speaking to the Indian Express, she said that she had shot a few scenes with Ranaut and they have come out pretty well.

Roja star Madhoo Shah is reportedly playing former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran's wife Janaki Ramachandran. After former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) founder MGR's death, Janaki took over the responsibilities of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. In an interview, Madhoo spoke about her role in Thalaivi and said that it is one of the most crucial characters. “I am doing a biopic for the first time, and of someone who is a renowned personality. Janaki Amma and Jayalalitha Amma have very few scenes together in the film as Thalaivi is mainly based on Jayalalithaa and MGR's relationship and political career. However, Janaki is an important character, which gives a different twist to the film's story,” she said.

As the latest addition to the star cast, actor Poorna aka Shamna Kasim has been roped in to play the controversial role of Sasikala in the film. She will be seen supporting Ranaut's character as the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s aide and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AAMK) leader.

According to earlier reports, initially, Priyamani was considered for the role but declined due to a clash in dates.
