Darlings Starring Alia Bhatt will be skipping the theatrical release and instead will be releasing directly on OTT. The movie also stars Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew and Vijay Varma and is based on a mother-daughter relationship.
The makers of Alia Bhatt movie Darlings have decided to go the surer and safer way and will now release it on OTT. The movie is produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and Alia Bhatt will be a co-producer. She will also be the lead actor on the film. This is her first production project. The makers contemplating a summer 2022 release.
Darlings Starring Alia Bhatt Will Release On OTT
Darlings have been reportedly sold to Netflix for a hefty sum of Rs. 80 Crores. This makes the movie one of the biggest deals with a female lead so that is another achievement for Alia Bhatt. A similar deal was cracked when Deepika Padukone starrer Gehraiyaan which was sold to Amazon Prime for around Rs. 80-85 Crores. It is reportedly one of the many movies that Dharma Productions will be making for Amazon in near future.
Alia Bhatt movie Darlings took the OTT route because the makers thought that the dark-comedy theme of the film will receive a wider and better audience on OTT. The crew completed shooting in August 2021 and currently under post production work. Among many OTT platforms that the movie was seeking, Netflix grabbed the exclusive streaming rights eventually as per reports.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt is already to grace the screens with her performances in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi and S.S. Rajamouli's RRR which will be releasing in February, 2022. She also has Bhansali's Baiju Bawra and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and we are also expecting her confirmation in South actor Jr. NTR's next pan India film.
Looks like 2022 is going to be a very busy year for Alia Bhatt with a long lineup of movies and will be a treat for her fans.
