Chandramukhi 2 Trailer: Kangana Ranaut Shines As Haunting Dancer

The highly anticipated trailer for Chandramukhi 2, featuring Kangana Ranaut and Raghava Lawrence, was officially unveiled with great excitement in Chennai on Sunday. Ranaut takes on the titular role, portraying a dancer in the court of Vettaiyan Raja, renowned for her beauty and dance skills.

In the trailer, a significant plot unfolds as a large joint family arrives at a mansion, aiming to resolve a mysterious issue. However, they are strictly advised against entering the southern wing of the mansion, which is where the enchanting Chandramukhi resides. This marks a fresh twist in Chandramukhi's tale after 17 years, as it uncovers a 200-year-old story involving a king and a court dancer named Chandramukhi, linking it to the present.

Several songs from the movie have already been released. One of them is Swagathaanjali, showcasing Ranaut in her full Chandramukhi persona. This song was sung by Sreenidhi Tirumala and written by Chaitanya Prasad. Another track titled Moruniye, featuring Raghava Lawrence has been composed by MM Keeravani and performed by SP Charan and Harika Narayan, with lyrics written by Vivek.

Directed by P. Vasu, Chandramukhi 2 boasts a stellar cast that includes Vadivelu, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Lakshmi Menon, Srushti Dange, Mithun Shyam, Mahima Nambiar, Rao Ramesh, Vignesh, Ravi Mariya, Suresh Menon, T. M. Karthik, and Subiksha Krishnan. 

This film serves as the sequel to the Tamil horror comedy Chandramukhi, which featured Rajinikanth and Jyothika in leading roles and achieved blockbuster status at the box office. Produced by Lyca Productions and Subaskaran, Chandramukhi 2 is scheduled to release on September 15, coinciding with Ganesh Chaturthi, and will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.


In an interview with Indo Asian National Service, Ranaut discussed her character in Chandramukhi 2, stating that she plays a grand and captivating character in a classic and highly entertaining film. She added, that the movie combines various genres, including action, comedy, horror, romance, and music. She noted this marks her first involvement in a major entertainment project where she portrays a larger-than-life character. 

Regarding her professional endeavours, Kangana Ranaut is set to portray the role of Indira Gandhi in the film Emergency.
