The much-anticipated poster of Kangana Ranaut, who will be playing the titular character in Chandramukhi 2, was released on Saturday. The first look poster features the national award-winning actor wearing a heavily embellished saree and traditional jewellery.
Chandramukhi 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the Rajinikanth starrer Chandramukhi (2005), directed by P. Vasu. The sequel is also directed by the same director. Lyca Productions, the production banner that’s bankrolling the film, shared the first-look poster of Kangana Ranaut as Chandramukhi on their Twitter handle.

Kangana Ranaut looks magnificent in a heavily adorned olive-green classical Bharatanatyam saree. She’s wearing a traditional necklace, maang tikka, jhumkhas, bangles, and kamarbandh. She is seen standing in the background of her chamber at the royal palace. There’s a picture of Vettiyan Raja in the blurry background.

Chandramukhi 2 is the sequel to the 2005 blockbuster film. Rajinikanth played the dual roles of Dr. Saravanan and Vettaiyan Raja in the prequel, while Jyothika played the titular character, Chandramukhi. Raghava Lawrence will be replacing Rajinikanth as Vettaiyan Raja, while Kangana Ranaut replaces Jyothika as Chandramukhi.
The Tamil film Chandramukhi is a remake of the Malayalam superhit 1993 film Manichitrathazhu. It was also remade in Hindi, starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan as Bhool Bhulaiyaa, in 2007.
Chandramukhi 2 will star Tamil actor Vadivelu, who was also part of the prequel. The first-look poster of Raghava Lawrence as Vettaiyan Raja was released by the production house a week ago. It kicked off the excitement among the audience.The film is scheduled to release on Ganesh Chaturthi in September. It will be simultaneously released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut will next be seen playing the role of former prime minister of India Indira Gandhi in the Bollywood film Emergency. The film narrates the political career of Indiara Gandhi and how she tactfully dealt with the historical events that happened in 1975.
