Bhumi Pednekar, Rajkummar Rao's Badhaai Do To Release On This Date Now

Badhaai Do release date: The release of Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao's upcoming film Badhaai Do has been pushed back. The film was earlier set to release in January next year.

Directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni, the film will see Rao and Pednekar together on the silver screen for the first time. Due to COVID-19 pandemic releases of many Hindi and regional films have been pushed back or stalled indefinitely. The disease not only disrupted shooting and post-production schedules but also forced makers to consider an OTT release, ditching the theatres completely.

Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivii, which was scheduled for an April release this year, only made it to theatres in September, whereas Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starter Sooryavanshi made it to the silver screen on Diwali weekend, after its released being postponed twice.

On November 15, the makers of Alia Bhatt starter biopic Gangubai Kathiawadi too announced a delay in the theatrical release of the film. Scheduled for a January 6 release earlier, the film will now hit the theatres on February 22. Read more about it here.

What is Badhaai Do about

The film is said to be a sequel to the hit 2018 film Badhaai Ho featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao. Directed by Amit Sharma and written by Shantanu Shrivastav and Akshat Ghildial, the film dealt with the issue of middle-aged pregnancies and the stigma around it.

Not much is known about the plot of Badhaai Do as of yet. What we do know is that the film will see Rao in the role of Shardul- a cop working at a Mahila thana while Pednekar will essay the role of a female PT teacher called Sumi.

Pednekar had shared a post on Instagram in March this year, revealing that the shooting for the film had wrapped up. "It’s a wrap for Shardul & Sumi. This picture does no justice to what we & the entire team felt while shooting this film - Pure love for each other, constant laughs & memories for a lifetime," she captioned the post.

Badhaai Do New Release Date

Badhaai Do is now scheduled for a theatrical release on February 4, 2022.
