Anushka-Virat fundraiser for COVID-19 relief: Actor-producer Anushka Sharma and husband Virat Kohli have started a fundraiser called 'In this together' for COVID-19 relief. India is currently battling a deadly second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. So far India has seen 2,14,91, 598 cases of COVID-19 and 2,34,083 reported deaths due to it.

On Friday, Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram handle to announce a fundraiser that she and her husband, Cricketer Virat Kohli have started for COVID-19 relief. In a video, the couple talked about the tough times India is facing because of the surge in coronavirus cases. They also spoke on the immense burden on our healthcare system.

According to the couple, the fundraiser intended to support frontline workers. Sharma and Kohli went on to request all their followers to join them and help by contributing as much as possible. "Every little bit makes a difference. To our family, friends and fans, this is the time to move forward together. We will overcome this together. We will win the battle if we are in this together. Stay safe! Jai Hind," the couple said.

In the caption, Sharma gave away the details regarding donation."As our country battles the second wave of COVID-19, and our healthcare systems are facing extreme challenges, it breaks my heart to see our people suffering," she wrote, further adding, "So, Virat and I have initiated  a campaign #InThisTogether, with Ketto, to raise funds for COVID-19 relief."

Sharma went on to encourage her followers to "step forward to support India and Indians." She also added, "Your contribution will help in saving lives during this critical time."

Virat Kohli also shared the same video on his Instagram handle inviting all his admirers to contribute towards the cause.

Kohli and Sharma became parents to daughter Vamika on January 11 this year. "We are thrilled to share with you that we’ve been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers, and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat (sic)," Kohli wrote in a social media post announcing the birth of his first child. Read more on that here.

On May 1, Sharma thanked her fans for wishing her on her birthday, revealing that she had chosen not to celebrate the occasion due to COVID crisis. "...in the midst of all this pain and suffering, it just did not feel right to celebrate my birthday," she said in her Instagram video. "Remember we are all in this together. Guys, please stay safe and take care of yourself. Thank you," Sharma further added.
