Neena Gupta Autobiography: The 61-year-old Bollywood actor is all set to release her memoir titled Sach Kahun Toh. The book will share the events and life story of Gupta in the most “unapologetically honest” manner.
The 61-year-old actor’s memoir will officially be released on June 14, 2021. The book, titled Sach Kahun Toh will be published by Penguin Random House India, promises to be an eye-opening account.
In a video shared on her official social media channels, Neena Gupta announced that she wrote the book during the lockdown in 2020. Gupta added that the book is also available for pre-order now.
“I thought in these very difficult and gloomy times when we are stuck at home, when we are sad, when we are anxious, maybe my book will help you tide some of the tough days,” Gupta said in the video.
Sach Kahun Toh will take its readers back to how Gupta’s acting career started in the 80s from her days in the National School of Drama (NSD), her success in the film industry, her unconventional pregnancy, and also her journey on motherhood as a single parent. Gupta will also address various issues in the film and entertainment industry in the book. This includes politics, the casting couch, and the struggles of actors who have no "godfathers" in the industry.
The publishing company said that the book is “a candid, self-deprecating portrait of the person behind the persona, detailing her life's many choices, her battles against stereotypes, then and now, and how she may not be as unconventional as people think her to be.”
The actor was recently seen playing a 90-year-old grandmother in the Netflix Original film Sardar Ka Grandson. The film also stars actors Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Soni Razdan, and others. Read more about it here.
Gupta made a comeback in Bollywood with the film Badhai Ho in 2018. Neena Gupta dated Cricketer Vivian Richards in the 1980s, together they are parents to now celebrated fashion designer Masaba Gupta. Gupta is now married to Delhi-based chartered accountant, Vivek Mehra.
