Lilly Singh's Grammys Mask With "I Stand With Farmers" Written On It Going Viral

Singh has been seen vocal about the protesting farmers in India. On Sunday, she wore a polka dot black power suit with a face mask that had "I stand with farmers" written on it. Last month, on Instagram the Canadian, whose parents were born in Punjab, talked about farmers protesting against the new farm laws and the arrest of Bengaluru-based environment activist and Fridays for Future (FFF) India founder, Disha Ravi.

What's Lilly Singh's take on Farmer protests?

“What’s happening right now goes so far beyond the agricultural bills, and some people are simply refusing to acknowledge that. They are choosing to focus on tedious language in the bill rather than opening their eyes to the brutality that’s taking place. Democratic norms are being violated by the Indian government during these protests. In a democracy, you’re supposed to be able to peacefully protest, period,” she had mentioned in a video. Ravi was granted bail by the Patiala House Court on February 23. She was sent to jail in connection to the “Toolkit case” after being charged with conspiracy and sedition. Singh claimed in her video that Ravi was supposedly “promoting a ‘toolkit’ online to help people understand how to peacefully protest on behalf of farmers, and boom, jail,” she added. Read more about Disha Ravi Toolkit Case here

The Viral Tik Tok Clip

In December last year, in a viral TikTok clip, she urged fans to "Stop!" and get informed about the "largest human protest in history" in India. "I've been talking a lot about farmers' protest happening in India. Long story short, farmers are protesting new agriculture bills that affect their livelihood and they have been peacefully protesting but have not met with not so peaceful responses," the "Superwoman" had pledging her support to the farmers and "right to protest peacefully".
