In a world where fashion often prioritises aesthetics over accessibility, Kanchan Garg, the founder of Haxor, is reshaping the clothing industry.

Witnessing the frustration and inconvenience of individuals suffering from disabilities like Alzheimer's, arthritis, and physical disability, she encountered them struggling with something as basic as trying to dress themselves independently, which was truly eye-opening for her. It then became evident to Garg that there was an urgent need for clothing that could seamlessly blend functionality and comfort without compromising on any aspect.

Journey and Inspiration

Haxor

In 2023, Garg started a venture, Haxor, which is dedicated to designing and producing clothing that meets the unique needs of seniors and individuals with limited mobility or disabilities. This innovative approach to fashion aims to empower and enable everyone to feel confident and comfortable in their clothing choices, regardless of age or physical challenges.

When asked about her approach to designing special clothes catering to certain disabilities, she answered, "Our approach is multifaceted. First, we engage in extensive research and development to create clothing that caters to a wide range of mobility issues. Our garments are designed with features such as easy closures like magnetic buttons, Velcro, or snap fasteners. We also maintain a strong focus on affordability. We believe that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, should have access to clothing that makes their lives more comfortable."

What keeps her going? Recognition and giving a sense of identity to disabled people, she says, is a great motivator.

The inspiration behind Haxor stemmed from personal experiences within my family. I witnessed the challenges that seniors and disabled individuals face when it comes to finding clothing that meets their unique needs. It was disheartening to see loved ones struggle with traditional clothing that wasn't designed for their comfort and mobility. When asked about the challenges she faced as an entrepreneur, she said,

"An entrepreneur's life is challenging, and the lives of people with disabilities and special needs are even more challenging. Devoting time and energy to both is doubly challenging but worth the satisfaction working for a social cause brings. I help in providing disabled people a chance to normalcy by getting fashionable yet functional clothing, and the most gratifying part of the journey is to hear from disabled people how I can help them; that is a simple success to me."

Recalling The Story Of Dipika

She recounts the story of a girl named Dipika. "Dipika, a girl in her late 20s who is a wheelchair user, discovered Haxor's adaptive clothing line. The clothing, designed for individuals with disabilities, provided her with independence and comfort. The hidden velcro closures and adaptive openings made dressing easier. The soft, comfortable fabrics and stylish designs boosted her self-esteem and allowed her more time for her responsibilities," says Kanchan.

In a world where women entrepreneurs are appreciated less, I was grateful to be surrounded by mentors, with whom I can openly deliberate my concepts, predicaments, and resolutions. Adding on to this, I recently completed a business program at IIM B, where my professors and mentors proved invaluable.

Besides this, launching her website is the most important milestone in her journey. There is a lack of awareness, and with that, there are many myths and stereotypes in our society related to people with disabilities. Her website, which also acts as an e-commerce channel, also serves as an all-encompassing support resource for disabled people and focuses on raising awareness, inclusivity, and advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilitiesIn her journey among the array of Google products, three have significantly contributed to the establishment and expansion of her business through Google Ads, YouTube, and Google Sheets. YouTube has played a vital role in her business journey. By creating informative and engaging video content, she has been able to connect with a broader audience.
