As the nation gears up to celebrate its 76th Independence Day, an Indian student who went abroad to pursue higher education took a moment to make his convocation extra special.

Awanish Sharan, Indian Administrative Service Office of the Chhattisgarh cadre, shared a video of an Indian student receiving his college degree abroad. The student is seen to be dressed in traditional attire under his graduation robe as he walked onto the stage when his name was called.

Student Unfurls Indian Flag During Convocation

As he walked onto the stage, he took out the tricolour Indian flag and unfurled it. He received a huge round of applause as he walked with the Indian flag. The caption of the video shared on X, formerly Twitter, read, "He got a degree and won millions of hearts."

The video was shared on August 11 and had amassed almost 8 million views, 36K likes, and hundreds of comments.

This patriotic gesture touched the hearts of many netizens. Calling it a "lovely gesture," one user wrote how proud he was of this student. Another user said, "Dil jeet liya bhai ne (Brother won our hearts)." A third user commented that he congratulated the student and called the expression on his face priceless.

This is indeed a heartwarming gesture and a proud moment for India especially when the country is about to celebrate its 76th Independence  Day.

Recently, another student studying abroad garnered attention after he said on stage, "Mummy, main pass ho gaya," while receiving his degree during his convocation ceremony.
