Girl Gets Back Discarded Toy

He had accidentally thrown away his little daughter's favourite stuffed toy-- a dog named 'cupcake'. Soon, the girl's mother posted about the missing toy on Facebook, and the community jumped into action.

The widely shared Facebook post reached Strafford City Selectman Brian Monahan, who sprung into action and contacted the town’s transfer station. The sanitation workers who collect trash from across the city began looking through heaps of trash to recover Cupcake. Finally, after several hours of digging through the pile, one worker found the beloved toy.

The story posted on Instagram has garnered several likes and heartwarming comments. One user also shared a similar experience. "I lost my favourite stuffed animal at the Toronto airport when I was 6, a very kind custodian found it for me after a 30-minute tantrum.” Another person said, "Awww, makes me proud to live in New Hampshire."

Wedding Ring Recovered From City's Trash

In a similar incident from the same US State, a woman reunited with her wedding ring that her husband had accidentally thrown in the trash. The woman contacted the Windham Department of Public Works, who immediately alerted his team about the mishap. A sanitation worker worked through 20 tonnes of the city's trash to find the precious jewel for the woman.

Dennis Senibaldi, the director of the Windham Department of Public Works, told WHDH TV that he had to go through about 18,100 kg of garbage to locate the ring. "I grabbed the ring, brought it up, cleaned it up for her, and called her up," Sendibaldi said. "She was heartbroken on Wednesday and more than ecstatic on Friday."
