She was a long way away from her hometown hospital when she started experiencing labour pains soon after she arrived at the concert venue.

Hospital Press Release

Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where Mercer gave birth, issued a press release about the birth. “Angela Mercer, her sister-in-law Amy, and her mom Barbara travelled all the way from Albany, NY last week to see pop music artist Pink perform at Fenway Park,” it read. “However, things didn’t quite go to plan… at only 31 weeks pregnant, Angela hadn’t been expecting her son’s arrival quite yet, but she started having contractions shortly after arriving for the show. She called her doctor, who advised her to get to a hospital.”

The hospital’s press release went into detail about how, due to the traffic surrounding the concert venue, Angela and her family had to walk to the hospital instead, to get there quicker. “And so, decked out in their concert outfits, they made the trek to our hospital where Angela later delivered her son in Brigham’s NICU,” it continued. The hospital also revealed that Mercer’s baby boy- “Pink’s newest fan” was named Aycen Hart. Pink shares the same last name as her husband, Carey Hart. Baby Aycen has now been transported from Boston to a NICU in Albany, where he’s received care much closer to home.

In a statement, Mercer said, “My husband Ace and I are so incredibly grateful to the exceptional team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital!” The new mother continued, “The medical care management, and social work staff guided us confidently with their knowledge and expertise, all while being personable, empathetic, and engaging. We are sincerely appreciative.”

Surprisingly, this incident isn’t the first time something like this has happened at a  concert though. In recent months, especially in the case of Pink, the pop singer was handed a full wheel of Brie cheese, and someone even gave her their mother’s ashes on stage! The birth of Aycen Hart is one of the more positive events to take place at a Pink concert, similar to other artists stopping concerts for their pregnant fans. Hopefully, the trend of throwing things at artists will end, and we'll get to see more positive events take place at concerts.
