Who Is Chloe Malle? American Vogue's New Editor-In-Chief

Chloe Malle, a 39 years old, has been appointed as the upcoming Head of the Editorial Content ( Editor-in-Chief) for the American Vogue succeeding Anna Wintour who was the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine for nearly four decades. “Vogue has already shaped who I am, now I'm excited at the prospect of shaping Vogue," she told the fashion publication.

Malle, a graduate from Brown University, has steadily risen through the ranks at Vogue, leading to her appointment as head of editorial content. She initially joined as a social editor in 2011, covering events and weddings. She later became the Contributing Editor in 2016. Since 2023, she has served as the editor of Vogue.com, where she oversaw all the digital content.

At Vogue, she successfully launched the annual content series such as “Dogue” and the “Vogue Vintage Guide”. She secured high-profile exclusives, including a profile of Lauren Sánchez ahead of her wedding to Jeff Bezos and a photoshoot of Naomi Biden's White House wedding.

In an interview, Malle acknowledged her "nepo baby" status as the daughter of actress Candice Bergen and director Louis Malle, but she stated that it has motivated her to work harder to prove her own capabilities.

Anna Wintour, who stepped down from her role as editor-in-chief after 37 years, will remain as a mentor to Malle while continuing her other roles as Condé Nast's chief content officer and Vogue's global editorial director. 

“Fashion and media are both evolving at breakneck speed, and I am so thrilled, and awed, to be part of that,” said Malle. “I also feel incredibly fortunate to still have Anna just down the hall as my mentor.”
