In recent news, Bengaluru fans of American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, led by vlogger Cassy (@cassiusclydepereira on Instagram) blocked Bengaluru roads, sang songs, and danced to Swift's music in a viral video captured by the vlogger. This act was in an attempt to get the attention of the Grammy-nominated artist and get her on a tour in India.

Wait, What?

Yes, you read correctly. In a viral video on Instagram, posted by  Bengaluru vlogger Cassy (@cassiusclydepereira), Bengaluru Swifties, led by Cassy, blocked a road in the capital of Karnataka in order to create hype by singing karaoke to Taylor Swift's music. All of this was done to get the singer-songwriter's team's attention online- until the police came and intervened, according to News 18

This didn't stop the Swifties. They moved to another road, with more fans joining them in the process. Fans of all ages and from various diverse communities were there at the 'Swifties' Assemble Event, something Cassy was very pleased about in the video. Again, the security intervened, but, as Cassy said in the video, there were too many people so they too, joined in on the singing and dancing.

Reaction

While the video was meant to be a warm-hearted celebration of Taylor Swift's fans in India (and a plea for her to come and tour the country for the first time), Indians online weren't pleased.

Many social media users thought the whole thing was in poor taste and  labelled it "as an unwanted disturbance and disruption of services," with some users calling the Swifties a "clown generation."
