Stop Finding Trouble In Every Paradise: Why Can't We Leave Deepika-Ranveer Alone?

Every time a celebrity couple walks with a little distance between them, certain newspapers plunge to the headline 'Trouble In Paradise'. The fixation with celebrity marriages and then the obsession with their separation is uncanny. Recently, at the Indian Sports Honours 2023 event, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh walked on the red carpet together and posed alongside Padukone's father and former Badminton Champion Prakash Padukone. What followed the morning after was a series of headlines stating Deepika Padukone ignored Ranveer Singh on the red carpet and speculations were rife about whether separation is on the horizon.

Here is a couple who graciously posed at an event that was clearly an evening celebrating sportspersons one of which included Prakash Padukone, the actor's father, and what's more amusing about the news citing the couple's alleged "awkwardness" is that the duo came in together at the event. So, did Deepika and Ranveer announce their break-up by graciously posing together on the red carpet? Don't think so.

Deepika Ranveer Break Up Rumours: Can we let them be?

This isn't the first time that rumours about a rift between Padukone and Singh have surfaced. In 2022, several celebrity gossip pages took the liberty to state that the couple was facing a hard time in their marriage and that their distance may lead to their union breaking off soon. It took the Archetypes Podcast hosted by Meghan Markle to squash the rumours finally. In October 2022, Padukone, who was a celebrity guest on Markle's podcast show spoke and discussed various issues at length including mental health and diversity across film industries. It was towards the end of the show when she shared with Markle how she was excited to see her spouse, Singh soon as he had gotten back after a week of attending a music festival.

It's appalling but not surprising that social media users have started to make a mockery of whom they call their "favourite" celebrities because one moment they're applauding the male celebrities who appreciate their partners in public, and the next moment they're trolling the same celebs for not behaving like they want them to by not showing excessive PDA in public.

Is there a middle ground? Well, not in the age of social media, where every glance, every intriguing social media post, and every public gesture is either taken too agreeably or too offensively.

No wonder, celebrities today are cautious while dating in public and are only sharing news about their relationships on their wedding day, which apparently doesn't remain secret or private either courtesy of the internet.

Why are we obsessed with both marriage and breakups?

While we all love the idea of love, there's a thin line between respecting it and obsessing over it. We've created romantic relationships to be the benchmark of everything to such an extent that a single person, even by choice, is ignored and treated as someone who is missing a major part of life. Whether or not entertainment stars choose to get married or separate is not something we can base our idea of love on, and every personal decision that they take should be respected whether it falls under our category of 'how it's supposed to be'.

Well, if society is really looking to address matters around marriage and breakups, the first step it must take is to stop constantly overrating the subject altogether and, when it comes to what celebrities choose to do in their personal lives, maybe mind our own business.
