The remarkable shooter from Himachal Pradesh went ahead in the game to surpass the likes of world No. 1 Elavenil Valarivan, World No. 3 Apurvi Chandela, Anjum Moudgil and West Bengal’s Mehuli Ghosh.
Mehuli outclassed her senior’s record score, thus creating a new world record but the results of the South Asian Games aren’t recognised by the ISSF for maintaining records so Mehuli’s record would be counted as an unofficial score.
Mehuli stole the limelight, winning the senior women’s 10m air rifle with a score of 252. She surpassed the score of Madhya Pradesh’s Shreya Agrawal who finished with 251.2 to earn second place.
Elavenil Valarivan broke the previous record held by fellow Indian shooter Mehuli Ghosh. This was her first participation in the finals.
