Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl
“Those were my credentials, my achievements. That is my hard-earned trophy and I will never let anybody with vested interests point a finger at it,” Gunjan Saxena clears the dust around her biopic.
“There is no way that anybody, whether he is a flyer or a ground duty officer, would use such language in the Air Force,” says Retired Air Marshal Dhiraj Kukreja.
The IAF has written to the CBFC saying that certain scenes and dialogues “are misleading” in the film and that they “portray an inappropriate work culture especially against women in the IAF.”
Despite the shortcomings, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is an amazing film. It tells not just the story of one extraordinary woman, but symbolically of every remarkable woman who has ever lived and battled patriarchy.
To watch Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl or not. Should we make this choice influenced by the debate on nepotism?
The film is a biopic which tells the story of our country’s first Air Force woman officer Gunjan Saxena who went to war in 1999.
