Actor Yuvika Chaudhary Arrested For Casteist Slur: 10 Things To Know

Yuvika Chaudhary arrest: Television actor Yuvika Chaudhary was arrested on October 18 by Haryana police under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention Of Atrocities) Act, 1989. The actor was later released on interim bail. The arrest was in connection with a case filed by a Dalit activist against Chaudhary in May this year.

The actor's lawyer Ashok Bishnoi said in a statement that his client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and she is on interim bail now (in a case of alleged offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform).

1. Chaudhary had made headlines in May this year when a video of her using a casteist slur against a scheduled caste community went viral on social media.

2. The video also featured her husband Prince Narula and some of her staff members. The actor had said in the video that whenever she shoots for a vlog she dresses up like member of a certain community.

3. Social media began demanding legal action against Chaudhary for the video.

4.On May 25, Arrest Yuvika Chaudhary began trending on Twitter.

5. Following the backlash, Chaudhary offered an apology on social media, alleging that she didn't know the meaning of the word she had used in her blog and that she didn't mean to hurt anyone.

6. Later, a Dalit activist named Rajat Kalsan filed an official complaint against Chaudhary and she was eventually booked under the SC/ST Act at May 28 at Hansi’s City Police Station.

7. On Monday, the actor was arrested by Haryana police after she arrived in Hissar from Mumbai. she was later granted interim bail and released.

8. Primarily a television actor, Chaudhary has worked in Hindi films like Om Shanti Om and Naught @40.

9. She made her television debut in 2004, with reality TV show Zee Cine Stars Ki Khoj and went on to work in serials like Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani and Kumkum Bhagya.

10. She has also appeared as a contestant on reality TV shows like Bigg Boss 9 and Nach Baliye 9.
