In a video, that surfaced on Twitter, the actor is seen talking about her appearance during a vlog and used the casteist word to make fun of her dressing style. Her husband is also seen getting a haircut in the video that was uploaded on her personal YouTube channel.
After a clip surfaced on Twitter, many activists are calling for more awareness about marginalised communities and issues like this. The actor has tweeted an apology saying that she was not aware of the intensity of the word. "I didn't mean to hurt anyone" she tweeted.
But social media users claimed that everyone should be educated and aware of these things by now. Netizens believe that mere apologies is no longer enough and hiding behind excuses like "I was not aware" is not valid anymore. Who is Yuvika Choudhary?
- Yuvika Choudhary is a 37-year-old Indian actor from Uttar Pradesh. She started her career in acting by playing the character of Aastha in the hit TV serial Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani.
- Choudhary has previously appeared in hit Bollywood films like Om Shanti Om and Summer 2007, and the Kannada film Maleyali Jotheyali.
- In 2015, Choudhary was a contestant in the reality show Bigg Boss 9. In 2019, she participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye and emerged as the winner.
- Choudhary reportedly dated actor Vipul Roy for ten years. She then met Prince Narula after she took part in Bigg Boss 9. Narula proposed to her in February 2018 and they got engaged. The couple got married in October 2018 in Mumbai.
