Who was Sophia Cheung? After clicking a picture at the edge of a cliff near a waterfall, the influencer from Hong Kong fell to death on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Instagram influencer, Sophia Cheung, often shared memories from her trips of hiking, trekking etc. Due to her love for trekking, she had selected a username on Instagram as "hike.Sophia".

Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern hospital authority confirmed the news to news outlets in a statement, "It is confirmed that a 32-year-old woman has been sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and was certified dead at HK time 7:59pm on 10 July."

According to her Instagram profile, Cheung loved being in the outdoors exploring new things. She had also mentioned she loved going kayaking. At the same time, she had a keen interest in photography. her motto for living life was: "Life should be fun, not dumb."

Sophia Cheung had over seven thousand followers on her Instagram profile. Her Instagram public page dedicated to her hiking and trekking trips was relatively new as the first picture on the page was uploaded in February 2021.

She loved going out on trips and documenting them as she experienced new things. According to the Sun, Sophia Cheung went to Hong Kong’s Ha Pak Lai, which is a remote hiking spot. She was accompanied by three of her friends.

As per a report by New York Post, the influencer had gone hiking at around 11 am on Saturday. She lost her balance while taking a selfie around 5 pm. From the cliff, she made a fall of 16 feet and succumbed.

While posing for a picture at the Tsing Dai stream near Yuen Long, Sophia Cheung lost her balance and slipped in the water. Her friends called the emergency service after she fell. The influence was rushed to the hospital but she was soon pronounced dead.

Her last picture was uploaded on July 9 this year. The comments section of the post was filled with 'Rest in peace' comments. one internet user wrote in the comments, "I thought better days are coming with Saturday and Sunday? I will miss your chat every day. I love you always. Rest in peace my pretty Sofia." While another one had written about Sophia Cheung, "Rip Sophie! I can’t believe last week I still chat with you."
