Who is Xochitl Gomez? She played the role of the America Chavez and was targeted by trolls for her creative decision. The 14-year-old Gomez is a newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) world. She is playing the role of Chavez in Doctor Strange 2. Not only is she said to be playing a gay character but she's also the first Latino LGBTQ+ character to star in the long-running series.

The character America Chavez is developed by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta. She is a superhero in Marvel Comics. She believes that she has been raised by two mothers in the Utopian Parallel, a world that exists outside of time and in presence of the Demiurge.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness is a sequel film which has been developed by combining the aspects of Loki, WandaVision, What if...? and Spider-Man: Now Way Home. In the sequel, Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch opens up a multiverse and leads to the incoming of people to fight against.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, fellow actor Benedict Wong talks about Gomez and her character. He says, "For someone so young to join the NCU at 14 years of age, full credit to Xochitl. As anyone would be, there was kind of a rabbit in the headlights at first, but she's grown and grown into this amazing character that everyone is going to see."

In the past, she has participated in the Black Lives Matter movement as well as the Women's March in 2017. In 2020, she won the Young Artist Award as the Supporting Teen Artist for Shadow Wolves. As per a fandom page, she shares her birthday with Michelle Pfeiffer and Katherine Langford.
