Who is Shruti Das: Television actor Shruti Das who was seen as Noa in the Bengali series Desher Mati recently lodged a complaint for allegedly receiving online hate regarding her dusky skin since 2019. Das said that she started getting online hate after she made her debut in Bengali serials.

Das said that she faced the hate through comments that started getting increasingly vicious as her show started to get more popular. Das talked to TOI about the issue and said that the trolls accuse her of manipulating her partner Swornendu Samaddar, who is also the director of Desher Mati, to get the role in the show. She added that the trolls claim that it would have been impossible for a dusky person like her to get a chance otherwise.

Actor Shruti Das hails from Katwa in the Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal. Das, who is known for her role in the show Desher Mati, made her debut with the supernatural drama Trinayani in which she played the role of Trinayani Basu who has the ability to foresee the future and the past. This ability of hers often lands her in trouble but she tries to use her gift to protect the people around her from harm.

She was next featured in the Bengali series Desher Mati which is about the estranged members of a conservative family in Bengal who try to keep their differences aside and reconcile with their roots and family values. In the show, Das played the role of Noa Bose Mukherjee, who is a teacher.

Das has been dating Desher Mati director Swornendu Samaddar for more than a year. The couple started dating when Das was shooting for her show Trinayani and met Samaddar on the set of the show. After her role in the show, Das became a household name and was later signed for Desher Mati.
