Who Is Polina Strelets? Jet Ski Accident In Bali Leaves Influencer In Coma

Who is Polina Strelets: A young Russian influencer is in a coma, fighting for her life after a jet ski accident in Bali, Indonesia left her with serious injuries. As per reports, 24-year-old Polina Strelets has sustained fractures to her legs and spine. She reportedly underwent an operation but soon after fell into a coma.

Strelets is presently at a hospital in Bali but arrangements are being made to evacuate her back home to Russia via air. Her health insurance was not able to cover costs of her treatment in Bali and her family, thus, appealed to the Russian government to airlift her home, Mirror reports.

The influencer has been diagnosed with fat embolism, which has blocked her blood flow.

Strelets has over 4000 followers on Instagram and describes herself as an entrepreneur, with an educational establishment called PS School to her name. Her social media feed shows a series of travel pictures before cutting to distressing visuals of Strelets in the hospital after her accident.

One post relates that Strelets suffered the accident on her birthday on January 20. "Two closed fractures of the femur and tibia with displacement, damage to the pelvic bone, cerebral edema" is what the post tells of the injuries she has sustained.

"Brain recovery can take three weeks or more. The insurance money is gone. All $50,000 insurance dollars are exhausted... The plan is this - as soon as she gets better, she needs a flight, a special flight to St. Petersburg."

Strelets' social media profile suggests that she recently lost her father.

The Strelets case is similar to another one that occurred last year in Bali, leaving an American influencer with serious injuries as well. Travel blogger Kaitlyn McCaffery was on a trip in 2021 when she suffered a biking accident that put her in a coma. She was found "broken and bleeding" by locals on the side of a road, as per her family.
