Crystal Bayat reportedly led the women's protests which took place in the national capital of Afghanistan, Kabul. After the Taliban takeover, there have been at least two small-scale protests launched by women. The young 24-year-old girl is a political activist who is encouraging women to raise their voices and ask for their democratic rights.

Crystal Bayat spoke to The Print from Kabul said in her statement, "If we let the Taliban win on this, then whatever progress women have made in the last 20 years will come undone. Women need to be made a part of the economic, administrative and political process."

Further adding, Bayat said that the Afghan women need to do it for their sisters. She said, "When we first decided to protest in Kabul, it took a lot of courage to stand in front of armed Taliban men, but we had to do it for our sisters."

Crystal Bayat is a Political Science graduate. She completed her graduation from Daulat Ram College, Delhi University. She has also pursued her Master's from India in the United Nations Institute in Delhi. After completing her education, she returned to Afghanistan in the year, 2019. Bayat's father is employed in the interior ministry of the Afghanistan government. Her mother is a medical professional.

Bayat mentioned that she is reaching out to hundreds if not thousands of women in Afghanistan. But despite her efforts, only a handful of women are showing up for the actual protests. She said that Mahmood Alikhil, who is a former government official has been helping Barat in protests.

She also claimed that the Taliban had broken her phones when she tried to record videos of the agitation. She further added that the International media needs to cover the Afghan women protests or else they would lose their rights.
