With over four lakh followers on Instagram, Dawn is a prominent social media figure. She previously shared content related to health and fitness, before moving to posts containing religious themes. She is also the founder of 'she lives freed,' which claims to be a ministry guiding women to peace through Jesus.

According to Dallas Morning NewsDawn began her stint as an online fitness coach selling packages and courses in 2014. Her offerings were priced between $90 and $300, with Dawn claiming to give customers personalised coaching advice. Reports suggest people soon began complaining that her courses allegedly exacerbated poor health practices and were generic, not tailor-made.

Back in 2019, Dawn alleged in a video that she was being given death threats for the fitness plans she sold. Reports claim a group titled Brittany Dawn Fitness Complaints also existed on Facebook where customers dropped their grievances. In her video, Dawn apologised for taking on more than she could at times.

Alongside being a coach, she was also a "sole content creator, customer service, business owner, YouTuber, financial adviser and everything else that comes with every business," she said, promising clients that she would open a channel of communication where they could send in their complaints.

Dawn, who is from Fort Worth, was not listed as a licensed dietitian by Texas' licensing department, according to reports at the time.

Following the controversy, Dawn claimed she would refund the amount to customers claiming she had scammed them. A report by Daily Mail points out that a customer claimed Dawn sent her only a single email for what was marketed as a 90-day personalised fitness program.

The 12-page lawsuit filed by Attorney General Ken Paxton further mentions that Dawn, without being authorised to offer advice on eating disorders, did so claiming that she overcame her own issues with certain fitness plans. Multiple customers with eating disorders who turned to her were given "low-calorie macronutrient suggestions that would only be suitable for someone who needed to lose weight, not put it on," the lawsuit states.

Dawn has refrained from publicly commenting on the matter.
