In the photographs shared by Yousafzai, who is also UN’s Messenger of Peace, she is seen completing the nikah formalities with Malik and posing with her parents and husband.
The nikkah ceremony took place at Yousafzai’s home in Birmingham.
Several celebrities like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif, Reese Witherspoon, Lilly Singh congratulated the newlyweds on social media.
In her previous interviews, Yousafzai had expressed that she didn’t have much faith in the institution of marriage. In an interview with Vogue this year, she said, “I still don’t understand why people have to get married.” Yousafzai had further wondered, “If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can’t it just be a partnership?”
While the world knows Yousafzai’s story, there is a rising curiosity about her groom. Here is what we know about Asser Malik:
1. Malik currently works as the General Manager High Performance for the Pakistan Cricket Board.
2. He has also worked as an operational manager for Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans.
3. He is a graduate in economics and political science from Lahore University of Management Sciences.
4. Malik is known to have worked as a managing director of a player-management agency as well in the past.
5. He was also a franchise owner for an amateur cricket league called Last Man Stand.
