The thriller is directed by Mitakshara Kumar and Nikkhil Advani under The Nikhil Advani production banner.
Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor is one of the lead actors in the film. He recently shared the motion poster of the web series on Instagram, “An emperor’s quest for the throne is about to begin", was the caption. With this series, he will be making his digital debut.
Nikkhil Advani said in a statement, “The Empire is a dream project that I have nurtured for years. The narrative we are exploring is something none of the makers have ever attempted in the history of Indian entertainment and given this story a fictional and creative bent. It’s overwhelming to see the trailer receive resounding praises and we hope that it makes for an unforgettable viewing experience.”
Shabana Azmi, in an interview, said that she loves the stories from history where women play strategic roles. She likes her character in The Empire as she is fierce and confident, Azmi believes.
