Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao’s daughter Kanthamaneni Uma Maheswari was found dead at her Hyderabad home on Monday, August 1. It has been reported that she had been suffering from a brief illness.
She was the youngest of the 12 children of the actor turned politician and youngest of the four sisters. Her famous sisters are Former Union Minister and BJP leader Daggubati Purandeshwari and Nara Bhuwaneshwari.
Uma Maheshwari death reason
The police registered a case under IPC section 174 as suspicious death and are investigating the matter. She died by suicide due to stress and illness over her health issues, police said. However, the reason why she ended her life would be known only after an investigation, Jubilee Hills CI Rajasekhar Reddy said.
Maheshwari locked herself in her room at 12 PM and did not respond when she was called for lunch. When she didn’t respond, her daughter Deekshitha called Jubilee Hills Police at around 2.45 PM and she was found hanging in her room, the cops said.
NT Rama Rao, better known by his initials, NTR, was one of the most celebrated Telugu leaders. After founding the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982 under the banner of Telugu self-respect, the actor-turned-politician set a sort of record by bringing the party to power within nine months and overthrowing the Congress’ one-party dominance in the then-undivided Andhra Pradesh. He passed away in 1996 at the age of 72, just a few months after losing his position of authority as a result of a revolution organised by his son-in-law, Chandrababu Naidu.
Recently, at the daughter of Uma Maheswari’s wedding, several family members gathered for the celebration. Three of NTR’s sons have passed away, including N Harikrishna, an actor and former minister.
