Apart from Thakur and Akhtar, the cast of the film includes Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapur, Dr Mohan Agashe, Darshan Kumar, and Hussain Dalal. After the release of the film, several viewers took to social media to share their views about the film. Some netizens said that they enjoyed the film while others called it underwhelming. One viewer of the film wrote on Twitter that he had a lot of expectations from the film after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which was directed by Mehra and also featured Akhtar in the lead, but it "feels like a low-grade version of Sultan (sic)".

Here what Twitter users think about the film:

Another viewer wrote that the only good thing about Toofaan is that it ends. He further called the film clichéd, predictable, and with a boring plot.

Meanwhile, a viewer of the film praised Akhtar's acting performance in Toofaan, writing, "It's the comeback that matters #Toofan Great Performance by @FarOutAkhtar".

Another Twitter user wrote, "@FarOutAkhtar just the kind of effort you put into the role is an inspiration. #toofan started my day with it. Can’t thank you enough for this experience."

A viewer of the film wrote that Toofaan's storyline is predictable, but the performance in the film makes it a treat to watch. "Toofan is a romantic sports drama based on boxing. Even though the storyline is predictable, its making and performance make it a treat to watch. An engaging first half followed by a shady second half makes it just an average movie," read the viewers tweet.

Praising the movie, a Twitter user wrote, "@FarOutAkhtar just finished watching Toofan. Nice movie, full paisa vasool. (sic)"
