Tamil Film Lift To Have An OTT Premiere On This Date

Tamil film Lift will be coming to OTT next month. The horror-thriller starring actors Kavin Raj and Amritha Aiyer has been directed by debutant Vineeth Varaprasad. While the shooting for Lift was wrapped up last year before March, the COVID-19 pandemic had stalled its release. The makers of this project have now finally opted for its digital release.

Over the last one year, several films across different languages went for a direct-OTT release due to the pandemic and the ensuing seating restrictions on cinemas. Tamil films like Boomika, Netrikann and Tughlaq Durbar, Malayalam films like Kuruthi, Cold Case and Malik, and Hindi films like Mimi, Sherni and Bhuj: The Pride Of India among many others went straight for an OTT release, while films like Bell Bottom and Thalaivii dared to test the waters as theatres opened across the country after COVID-19 second wave.

The makers of Lift claim it to be the Evil Dead of Tamil cinema. The film will see Kavin and Aiyer in the roles of IT professionals. Kavin, who made his debut with an appearance of television soap Kana Kaanum Kaalangal, is best know for his appearance in the third season of Bigg Boss Tamil, hosted by Kamal Haasan.

Aiyer, on the other hand, made her debut as a lead actor in 2018 with the Tamil-language film Padaiveeran. She has appeared in films like Kaali and Bigil, also starting in Telugu films Red and 30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela.

Lift Release Date

Lift will have its OTT premiere on October 1.

Where To Watch Lift

Lift will be streaming on Disney+Hotstar from the said date. Anyone with a valid subscription to the platform can watch it from its premiere date.
