Following the passing of actor and BJP politician Sonali Phogat, the Goa Police have opened a drug probe and detained two more people. In addition, two of her colleagues were detained, and the police had already filed a murder case.

Sonali Phogat Death Case Update:

According to a senior officer, Goa Police detained a North Goa restaurant owner and a suspected drug dealer on Saturday, August 27. They were accused of providing drugs to Singh and Sangwan. Edwin Nunes, the proprietor of Curlie's restaurant where Phogat was spotted enjoying a party the night before she died, and drug dealer Dattaprasad Gaonkar are among the most recent arrests. In the drug case, both have been listed as accused.

Associates of the Haryana BJP leader, Sudhir Sangwan, and Sukhwinder Singh, who were detained on Thursday, were today given a 10-day police detention sentence. According to a source unnamed to PTI, Sangwan and Singh "admitted" to the police that they had purchased drugs from Gaonkar.

More than 25 people have been questioned by the police thus far, including employees of the restaurant, the resort where Phogat was staying, the hospital where she was pronounced dead, and her driver.

The police said Wednesday, citing security camera footage and alleged confessions, that Phogat was at the renowned restaurant-turned-nightclub on Anjuna beach on Monday when she was forced to drink "some obnoxious substance" mixed in water by Sangwan and Singh. She "felt uneasy" and could hardly move on her own, so her associates drove her to the hotel where they were staying, the Grand Leonny. The following morning, the BJP leader was brought to St. Anthony's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Rahul Vaidya, a singer, said, "All of us believed it to be a natural death, but the events that are transpiring clearly indicate that it was a murder. I'm experiencing goosebumps from all of those images, numbness, and a strange sense of helplessness. I hope those responsible for the killing of another person receive a harsh punishment since it is unacceptable and inhumane. " Arshi Khan, a co-contestant on Big Boss, stated, "She treated me like a mother, checking on me whenever I went on shoots. She defended me fiercely. My spirit is broken! Why they would kill her is beyond me. There is a wider picture, and I ask God for justice for her. "
