Here's Taapsee Pannu Starrer Shabaash Mithu's Release Date

Taapsee Pannu starrer Shabaash Mithu release date has been announced. Pannu will be essaying the character of Indian Women’s Cricket team Captain Mithali Raj.

The biopic shows how the cricketer, who has a career spanning 23 years, 7 consecutive 50s in ODIs and has led India in 4 World Cups, reaches the acme of success in her career as an international sportsperson. Her journey from being an 8-year-old girl with a dream to become a cricketing legend is documented in the film.

The movie is directed by Srijit Mukherji, and written by Priya Aven. Is being produced by Viacom 18 Studios.

The star cast of the movie also includes actors like Vijay Raaz and Asad Ali Palijo.

Pannu's preparation for the role

To prep for the role, Tapsee Pannu trained under Nooshin Al Khadeer, a former cricketer and a friend of Mithali. The shoot was wrapped on November 9, 2021. The scenes were shot in real locations like the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. These were the locations that held an important and special place in Mithali’s life. While talking about the film, Pannu explained that it was daunting to play Mithali Raj on the screen because the stakes are high. “Mithali Raj is an excellent player who has made records for her 50s and has also surpassed the 10,000-run mark becoming the highest scorer in women’s cricket. She is one of the most experienced women cricket players so there is a lot of pressure to play her on-screen", she said.

Shabaash Mithu Release Date

The film is scheduled to release on July 15, 2022. Sharing the announcement, Taapsee wrote, “There is nothing more powerful than a girl with a dream and a plan to realise it! This is a story of one such girl who chased her dream with a bat in this “Gentleman’s Game” #ShabaashMithu The Unheard Story Of Women In Blue will be in cinemas on 15th July 2022”.
