On Saturday, on her first death anniversary, T-Series head Kumar shared that Khan’s family has agreed to give them the right to make a film based on her life story and a career spanning over four decades. The renowned choreographer had worked on almost 3500 songs in her career including the iconic numbers Ek Do Teen, Choli Ke Peechey Kya Hai and Dhak Dhak Karne Laga.

Here's what we know about the Saroj Khan biopic:

1. Kumar is motivated to make a film that can chronicle Khan's story of struggle, the story of the successes she achieved, and the story of India’s first female choreographer.

2. Nirmala Kishanchand Sadhu Singh Nagpal aka Saroj Khan, whose contribution to the film industry has inspired generations, started her career as early as a 3-year-old, Kumar said in a statement. She then became a dancer at 10 and soon became an assistant choreographer at the age of 12. He told Indian Express that she "mesmerised the audiences" with her dance choreography but before making it big she was met with "a lot of ups and downs".

3. He believes the success and respect she gained from the industry has to be brought to life through this film. He recalled the days when he used to visit film sets with his father. That is where he saw Khan "bring life to the songs with her choreography". "Her dedication towards the art was commendable," he concluded More here.

4. The production giant is also thankful to Khan's children Raju Khan, Sukaina Khan and Hina Khan who have agreed to let them make this biopic of their mother.

5. While the project has been announced today to mark her death anniversary, the details on the director and the cast of the film have been kept under wraps.

6. Talking about the biopic, Raju, who is also a choreographer, told leading daily, “My mother loved dancing and we all saw how she dedicated her life towards that. My mother was loved and respected by the industry and it is an honour for us, her family, that the world can see her story." He said that he is glad to follow in her footsteps.

7. Sukaina said her mother was loved and respected by the entire industry but the fans and followers are yet to see the struggle and fight that she had put up to become who she was. "We hope with this biopic, Bhushanji will be able to tell her story, her love for us, her passion for dancing, and her fondness for her actors and respect to the profession with this biopic,” she added.

8. Khan was known for several of her successful songs mostly in the 80s and 90s. She worked with many top actors and created some of the industry’s most famous dance scenes. She was among only a few women who worked behind the camera at a time when nearly all of them were men.

9. She worked with Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai and also became a popular face on television as a judge on dance shows like Naach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhla Ja.

10. The ace choreographer passed away last year after a cardiac arrest. She was 71. Everyone in the industry fondly called her Masterji.
