"We're glad to announce that we've acquired the rights to the legendary choreographer, Saroj Khan's life story. Stay tuned!" the official Instagram handle of T-Series posted on Saturday.

It has been one year since the ace choreographer left the world after a cardiac arrest. She was 71. Fondly called as Masterji, Saroj Khan is known for moulding the likes of Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai and adding newer freestyle dimensions to their performance on screen. Her contribution to the film industry has inspired generations and continues to do so. She worked in the industry for nearly four decades.

She predominantly worked in Hindi cinema and had choreographed over 3000 songs. She was the first women choreographer in Bollywood and was known for her stylish yet catchy moves. She also won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for the song Dola Re Dola from the movie Devdas. “Sarojji’s journey, that started as early as a 3-year-old, was met with a lot of ups and downs and the success and respect she gained from the industry has to be brought to life. I remember visiting film sets with my father and seeing her bring life to the songs with her choreography. Her dedication towards the art was commendable. I am glad Sukaina & Raju agreed to let us make this biopic of their mother,” Kumar said in a statement, The Indian Express reported.

Some of her most popular works are dance numbers such as Ek Do Teen, Chane Ke Khet Mein, Ghani Bawri, Hawa Hawaii, Nimbooda, Ek Do Teen, Radha Kaise Na Jale, Mera Piya Ghar Aaya, and Tamma Tamma.

More details regarding the biopic's director and the cast and crew will be disclosed in the coming days.
