The Family Man Season 2: Here's What Fans Think Of Samantha Akkineni's Performance

Samantha Akkineni in Family Man 2: Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Akkineni's The Family Man season 2 has released on June 4 with much fanfare and hype. The action-thriller show stars actor Akkineni in a negative role, though her appearance in the trailer had earlier generated some controversy. However, after the release of the second season, the Telugu star's performance is earning a lot of praise and fans have declared the show a "masterpiece".

In The Family Man Season 2, Akkineni plays Raji aka Rajalaxmi, a ruthless fighter of the Sri Lankan Tamil rebel force which concocts a plan to assassinate the prime minister of India.

Fans took to social media to share their views on the latest season. While some dubbed it as the "greatest Indian Web series" that meets the international standards of filmmaking, one fan wrote that Bajpayee hits the ball out of the park with his fantastic performance.

Calling Akkineni "excellent", another viewer tweeted, “Done binge-watching the HIGH-OCTANE #TheFamilyMan2." He further wrote about the show's "sheer brilliance" in every single frame and went on to say, "Not a fan of Samantha but I am now, this has to be her BEST EVER performance. I was deep down rooting for Raji but at the end of the day it is what it is!"

A user complimented Akkineni for this new never-seen-before avatar. "Nobody could have played the character better than u (sic)."

Akkineni, who makes her digital debut with the web series, is gathering raving reviews from audiences and critics alike. Earlier, social media had accused the web show of depicting the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu in a negative light. They have denounced the series as “anti-Tamil”.

The makers stood by Akkineni's character and said that she “took an extreme risk to do this role.” Director Raj Nidmoru told The Indian Express, “Samantha’s choice of doing The Family Man 2 is an extremely risky one, especially if you see how passionately her fans follow her work.” Read more on The Family Man 2 controversy here.
