Rimi Sen, an actor who made her Bollywood debut with the film Hungama in 2003, said that the reason she got into the entertainment industry was financial stability and she never wanted to be famous. She said about how she was typecast in comedies and how she tried unsuccessfully to break out of it.

Rimi Sen claimed in an interview that she dislikes being in the spotlight and that she chose a career in film because of financial reasons. The Hungama actor revealed how she was offered similar films after her success in comedies like Hungama, Garam Masala, Deewane Huye Paagal, and Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, but she became "tired" of doing them.

Rimi Sen said that she tried her hand at serious roles in Johnny Gaddaar, Sankat City, and Shagird, but these did not perform well at the box office. Later the actor opened about her roles in other films and she added, "When I wanted to do serious work, I approached Sriram Raghavan, Tigmanshu Dhulia but unfortunately those films were way ahead of their time and didn’t work out, so my options were again closed."

According to a report, Rimi Sen revealed that she tried out and auditioned for roles in movies such as Swades and Munna Bhai MBBS but was not selected. The actor said that she had done a commercial with Ashutosh Gowariker, and they had a cordial relationship, so she auditioned for Swades as well. But it was Gayatri Joshi, who got to play the role.

Later the Hungama star shared that she had also auditioned for Munna Bhai MBBS and had even received a positive response for it, but later, Gracy Singh played the role. She added, "So, there have been several such instances and opportunities that I have lost, but then such things are part and parcel of an actor’s life, one has to take it positively in their stride.”
