Pakistani Tiktoker Dead After Husband Attacks Her With Acid: 10 Things To Know

Pakistani Tiktoker dead following acid attack: A woman from Karachi's Baldia town passed away recently, three weeks after her estranged husband allegedly threw acid on her body, leaving her with previous burn injuries. The woman, identified as Rimsha, was a Tiktoker. Certain news reports suggest that she and her husband had grown apart due to differences over her filming and posting TikTok videos.

Rimsha was allegedly attacked by her husband on August 21 morning, while she was on her way to work. She was admitted to Burns Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for treatment, where she passed away on September 13. This attack has yet again stirred conversation over rising cases of violence against women in Pakistan, which have made international headlines.

Here are ten things to know about the case:

1. On August 21, Rimsha's husband Syed Zeeshan threw acid on her outside her parents' house, where she was living post separation.

2. A doctor treating Rimsha for her injuries claimed that her upper torso was burned up to 36 percent from the attack.

3. According to Rimsha's mother Nazia, her daughter got married to Zeeshan in 2019. However, the accused starting physically assaulting Rimsha four months into their marriage. Six months later, "Zeeshan slapped Rimsha in public and left her outside a park at 3am."

4. Rimsha's family had approached the police a few months ago after Zeeshan forcibly tried to take the deceased woman to his home. The accused man's father had even submitted a surety in written which said that his son won't force Rimsha to live with him.

5. The accused was arrested the very next of the attack.

6. A report by The Dawn suggests that Rimsha was habitual to making Tiktok videos, something that she continued to do after her marriage.

7. This reportedly led to a rift between the couple and in February the woman returned to her parents.

8. Zeeshan told the police that he did not like it when his wife made TikTok videos and he felt that she was "teasing" him with such activities.

9. After separating from Zeeshan, Rimsha had taken up a job and planned to continue her studies.

10. As per Rimsha's family, she was associated with a law firm and also worked at the city courts.
