Meet The Actors Featuring In Netflix’s Upcoming Satyajit Ray Anthology 'Ray'

Ray will feature four "tales of love, lust, betrayal and truth tied together" by the visionary writings of Satyajit Ray, as Netflix describes it.

Looking at the cast of Ray: The intriguing upcoming anthology Ray, starring actors Ali Fazal and Shweta Basu Prasad in lead roles, is all set to start streaming on Netflix from June 25. The teaser of the forthcoming anthology, based on the short stories of the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, was unveiled by the makers last month. The series has been directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji and Vasan Bala.

Ray features a stellar cast in Manoj Bajpayee, Fazal, Kay Kay Menon, Radhika Madan, Basu Prasad, Anindita Bose, Gajraj Rao and Bidita Bag, among others. Ray will feature four "tales of love, lust, betrayal and truth tied together" by the visionary writings of Satyajit Ray, as Netflix describes it.

Ray Cast: Here are the female cast members

Shweta Basu Prasad

The 30-year-old appears in a segment titled Forget Me Not, directed by Srijit Mukherji. The story is described as a "quirky thriller" about Ipsit, a "cutthroat corporate shark" who meets with a woman named Rhea. Prasad is best-known for her performance in Makdee, for which she also won a National Award. "I think it is a great way to introduce the Netflix generation to Ray's written work and I'm honoured to be a part of this," she said. Basu Prasad has worked in films like Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, The Tashkent Files, Serious Men and Comedy Couple. She is also prepping to be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's next film India Lockdown. On personal front, Shweta Basu Prasad had announced separation from her husband Rohit Mittal in December 2019.

Anindita Bose

Forget Me Not also features actor Anindita Bose in a supporting role. Seen in Prime Video's web-series Paatal Lok, the Bengali actor had garnered a lot of praise for her portrayal of Chanda in the show. Bose is also a doodle artist, who consistently shares her creations on Instagram. She was also seen in a Bengali language romantic film Love Aaj Kal Porshu. The 34-year-old actor has mostly worked in the Bengali film industry for close to a decade. Bidita Bag

Mukherji will also helm episode three of the anthplogy, titled Bahrupiya. It stars Kay Kay Menon and 29-year-old Bidita Bag. It's about "Indrashish Shaha, a timid man who longs to be a make-up artist is stuck at a job he hates, has a failing relationship and a burdened life". Bag made her Bollywood debut with the 2012 film From Sydney with Love. Bag has previously said that she wants to work with filmmakers such as Karan Johar or Aditya Chopra to make her mark. The actor was also seen in Babumoshai Bandookbaaz in 2017 and The Sholay Girl in 2019. She will next be seen in the upcoming film Mera Fauji Calling.

Radhika Madan

The actor who predominantly works in Hindi films started her career as a television actor. She received appreciation and recognition for her skills after her debut in Patakha alongside Sanya Malhotra. Madan then starred in Angrezi Medium, the sequel of Hindi Medium opposite to the late actor Irrfan Khan. Madan has starred in a few other Bollywood movies like Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and will also be seen in Netflix's Feels Like Ishq soon.

Akansha Ranjan Kapoor

Kapoor is an Indian model and a social media personality who is a close friend of actor Alia Bhatt. The two often feature on each other's Instagram. Kapoor has also been in news due to rumours of her dating Indian cricketer KL Rahul.
