Kurup Release Date: Here's When When You Can Watch The Dulquer Salmaan Starrer

Kurup release date: Based on a true crime, Dulquer Salmaan's Kurup is all set for a November release. The film will be released in multiple languages in the coming week.

It is very rare to see biographical dramas where the protagonist is actually a negative character. Some of the films that come to mind are Raman Raghav 2.0, Anurag Kashyap's fictional adaptation of the life and times of a serial killer by the same name, Main Aur Charles featuring Richa Chadha and Randeep Hooda, Not A Love Story by Ram Gopal Varma and Akshay Kumar's Rustom and Special 26.

What is Kurup about?

Kurup is based on the life of Sukumara Kurup, who is touted to be "India's longest wanted fugitive" going by the trailer of the film. Kurup stands accused of faking his own death, murdering another person whose body could be passed off as his own, in order to collect insurance money.

The incident occurred in 1984, when Kurup and his associates found a man that looked like him and offered him a lift in their vehicle, only to kill him later. The gang allegedly spiked the deceased's drink, after which he was strangled to death. The man, named Chako, was then stripped, his face was burned to hide his identity and was later put in an ambassador car which was set on fire.

The team behind Kurup

In the crime-thriller, popular Malayalam language actor Dulquer Salmaan will essay the role of Kurup. The film also features Sobhita Dhulipala, Indrajith Sukumaran, Shine Tom Chacko, Sunny Wayne and Bharath Niwas in key roles.

Kurup has been directed by Srinath Rajendran and its music and background score has been helmed by Sushin Shyam. The screenplay for the film has been written by Daniel Sayooj Nair and KS Aravind.

Where to watch Kurup

Kurup will have a theatrical release. While it is originally a Malayalam film, Kurup will also be released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. There is no clarity on when the film will start streaming on OTT.
