It was interesting to watch Alia Bhatt play the role of Ananya Swaminathan, a South Indian girl who falls in love with Krish, a Punjabi boy. What made her character relatable and endearing was the fact that she was a modern woman who left no stone unturned to be with the man she loves. At the same time, she was a grounded woman who believed in staying true to her roots.

2. Dear Zindagi

Alia Bhatt played the role of Kiara, a millennial in her 20s trying to make sense of herself as she navigates her personal and professional life. Fortunately, she wasn’t battling this alone. She sought help from a therapist who helped her process her emotions and live a healthier life.

3. Kapoor and Sons

Alia in Kapoor and Sons portrayed the character of a free-spirited young girl with a unique perspective. She successfully played her role as a friend, companion and an adviser.

4. Highway 

Highway, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, narrates the story of a woman (played by Alia Bhatt) who, after being kidnapped, discovers freedom for reasons that will be explained later. Bhatt played the role of a sexual assault survivor character in the film. Her role portrayed a woman who learns to live life her own way.

5. Raazi

It is a spy thriller film directed by Meghna Gulzar that released in India in 2018. She essayed the character of Sehmat Khan, a 20-year-old Pakistani spy, who married into a powerful Pakistani family in order to spy for India. Khan was trained by RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) officers before being sent to Pakistan. She was taught codes and how to shoot. She aced her job due to her quick learning ability. She impressed the nation with an impressive portrayal of her personality.
