Namaz Clip From Decoupled Series Goes Viral: Here's All About It

A web series titled Decoupled was recently released on Netflix. The show has R Madhavan and Surveen Chawla playing the lead role. Apart from the mixed reviews, the series has grabbed headlines for a specific scene.

A clip from the show has gone viral on social media. R Madhavan's character is seen at an airport trying to find a place to do some stretching. He finds a room in which a man is seen offering namaz. Madhavan stands near him and starts doing his exercise.

The man gets annoyed, stops his prayer and asks Madhavan to stop stretching as it is the prayer room. When the lead character does not stop, the man complains about him to the airport staff who also makes Madhavan aware that is it the prayer room and not a place meant for exercise.

The actor then starts stretching while chanting the Gayatri mantra leaving the others irritated and annoyed. The video is being shared massively on social media with mixed reactions. It sparked yet another debate on namaz offering in public places.

While some pointed out that the room in the scene was clearly meant for offering prayers, others dissed how the lead actor was stopped from doing exercise while another man was offering namaz.

The series recently released on the streaming platform is about a married couple about to be separated and thinking of seeing other people. The series has 8 episodes. Sejal Shah has produced the show.

The series has been called out by many critics for its "regressive portrayal of marriage and women". It has been directed by Hardik Mehta. Columnist and writer Manu Joseph has written the screenplay.
