Bell Bottom release: Akshay Kumar-Lara Dutta starrer Bell Bottom released today. The trailer of the spy thriller dropped in the first week of this month and had garnered 43 Million views on YouTube, creating a strong buzz around the film. Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, the movie also features Huma Qureshi, Vaani Kapoor and Adil Hussain among others. Since the audience has been away from theatres for a long time, there is a lot of confusion on where to watch Bell Bottom. Well, this is what we know about the film:

Bell Bottom : What's the film about?

The film is based on actual cases of airplane hijacks that India faced in the 80s. The fictionalised version of the true story tells us the story of an undercover RAW agent with the code name Bell Bottom (Akshay Kumar) who is sent by then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to save passengers on a plane that has been highjacked. He is on a mission to not only rescue 200 hostages, but to also neutralise the four hijackers on the Indian plane. Thus begins India's first covert overseas spy operation.

Bell Bottom is the first Hindi film to have a theatrical release post the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

Bell Bottom release: Where to watch the film?

Bell Bottom was release in theatres on August 19 across India. Talking to about the film, Akshay Kumar said that when nobody was going for an online release, he did it by releasing Laxmii on an OTT platform. But for Bell Bottom, it is the call of the movie's producer. He added that he is very excited about its release in the theatres. Bell Bottom is therefore, the first movie after the second wave of COVID-19 to see a theatre release. Besides, the movie is available in 3D for viewing.

Taking to his Twitter handle on Wednesday, Aug 18, Kumar said, "That nervousness of one day before the release is back and swear to God I’ve missed it. Here’s another friendly reminder :) #Bellbottom releasing tomorrow. Book tickets now."

On the other hand, Dutta whose transformation in Indira Gandhi for the film has earned much praise, said, "Looking forward to seeing you all in the cinemas as #BellBottom releases in theatres in 3D tomorrow!!! Please adhere to all COVID protocols and make your cinema experience a safe experience for yourself and your family members! #maskup #socialdistancing"

Will Bell Bottom have an OTT release?

As of now, the film is being released in theatres exclusively. The makers of Bell Bottom have not revealed plans of OTT release for the film as of yet.
