Anjana Om Kashyap is a known face on television news. The anchor of a prominent Hindi news channel, Kashyap’s journalistic career spans over two decades and she has previously been associated with several leading media houses. With the steady rise of the digital age-driven social media, Kashyap notably has often made headlines herself.
Most recently, she captured the attention of netizens for an interview she did with Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav ahead of the upcoming state elections in Uttar Pradesh. Videos of a particular bit from their chat are going viral on the internet.
Yadav, during the interview for Kashyap’s channel Aaj Tak, allegedly continued to repeat the term ‘honest journalist’ in reference to her. Kashyap, alleging Yadav was using the term sarcastically, lashed out at the politician.
“What are you trying to say with your repeated use of that one word? You are saying it sarcastically… You also know what you are trying to do. Other people might tolerate it, but not me,” she said before a live audience. Read more here.

Anjana Om Kashyap: Looking At Her Career In Journalism
Hailing from Ranchi, Jharkhand, Kashyap is the daughter of an army doctor father. As per reports, she exhibited leadership qualities from an early age and was proficient in public speaking and debating. She graduated from Delhi University with a degree in botany and from Jamia Millia Islamia with a diploma in journalism.
She was associated with noted channels like Doordarshan, Zee News and News24 at the start of her career. She joined Aaj Tak of the India Today group in 2012 and has been a journalist there since. She is a senior executive editor for the channel and appears on news panels and bulletins.
She is married and has two children.

By a section on social media, Kashyap is consistently branded as a journalist with alleged leanings towards the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Simultaneous to the criticism, Kashyap is also held up by other audiences among the country’s leading journalists.
Her interview with Yadav is not the first time that Kashyap has made it to headlines. Last year, she was brutally trolled for attempting to get an exclusive byte from IFS officer Sneha Dubey, who literally showed Kashyap the door. More on that here.
Further in 2019, Kashyap was widely criticised for entering a neonatal ICU ward in Bihar during an encephalitis outbreak and interviewing an on-duty pediatrician. As per reports at the time, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) had filed a complaint against Kashyap over the incident.
