Bhavina Patel has qualified for para table tennis even in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and has already set for her journey to Japan on Wednesday.

She is currently standing at World Number 2 position owing to her Silver Medal victory for India in the Individual Category at the PTT Thailand Table Tennis Championship held in 2011.

Who Is Bhavina H Patel?

Hailing from Mehsana, Gujarat, the Para table tennis player plays in her wheelchair and has won a number of gold and silver medals in national as well as international competitions.

She is ranked world number 2 owing to her Silver Medal win for the country in the Individual Category at the PTT Table Tennis Championship held in Thailand in the year 2011.

Apart from her special ability, Patel was also subjected to a financial crisis as yet another obstacle in her journey. Concerning the same, the Ahmedabad-based organisation Blind People’s Association (BPA) extended support to the para-athlete recently.

The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) also included Patel in their scheme of providing financial support to youth athletes in 2020. A proposal of more than Rs 7,00,000 was sanctioned by the committee, according to a report by the Times Of India.

In October 2013, Patel won another silver medal in the women’s singles Class 4 at the Asian Para table tennis championships held in Beijing.

Patel also won the bronze medal in International Table Tennis Federation Asian Para Table Tennis Championship that was held in 2017 in Beijing, China.
